The thrill of the chase and the hunt for the criminal, coupled with the ever-burgeoning interest and desire for the sensational, has been responsible for much of the increased interest in film within the past thirty years.

Comedy genre: Another element of film-making that has been around for decades is the comedy genre. From slapstick comedy, to long-running sitcoms, there are plenty of examples of this genre that have made the rounds throughout the decades. Many modern comedies such as Shrek (the 2021 Disney film) and Inglourious Basterds (the 2021 war comedy) are considered hit successes among film-goers. The success of these films was likely helped by the audience’s desire for an easy laugh, and the ability of funny films to tell a story without resorting to complex explanations, which sometimes can become tedious when trying to follow such plots. Many of the top comedy films of recent years have also managed to combine elements of mystery and science fiction into their plots, something that has become all too common in recent films. This has led to more film-going audiences being open to the idea of a film that is both hard to define and easy to get caught up in.

Moving Picture Industry: No discussion of cinema would be complete without the mention of the motion picture industry. Moving picture has been present in the world of cinema since the early days of the cameras, and has only gotten more technologically advanced in the decades since. Advances in special effects and lighting have revolutionized the way motion pictures are made, leading to the advent of computer animation and other forms of on-screen storytelling. Though some of the old forms of film-making, such as studio movies and stage shows, have largely gone extinct over the years, new technologies continue to push the limits of cinema. Over time, this has led to an increased interest in the films, both classic and modern.
